A love of horses began almost at birth for Jana Echols, trainer at Lazy E Crescent Horse Training and Riding Instruction. Her father, Roy Echols, a team roper from Arizona, knew that this girl had a love for horses through and through; everywhere he rode, Jana did too. She grew up being carefully sculpted by many great trainers, and had victorious accomplishments in many arenas. By the age of eight, Jana competed regularly in open events, western pleasure, barrel racing, and other rodeo events, as well as riding English, and competing in horse trial jumping events. From that point forward, Jana continued to build her career as a horse trainer and riding instructor. Never was she handed a finished horse. It was up to her to train her own horses for the event she wished to pursue. At age thirteen, Jana began training horses and giving riding lessons. She continued her career as a trainer while attending the University of Nevada, Las Vegas on a full ride rodeo scholarship, receiving her BSBA in Business Management. Enhancing her natural gift for horse care, Jana then attended the Academy of Equine Dentistry, to gain certification as an Equine Dentist and knowledge in Equine Health and Nutrition. She has practiced as an equine dentist for six years and recently achieved certification with the International Association of Equine Dentistry (IAED). For more information visit Perfect Balance Equine Dentistry. Jana has accomplished a lot during her career with horses. Some of these honors are: CNFR qualifier, NBHA World Show qualifier several times over, NBHA World Show top ten barrel racer and 2 x NBHA World Show finalist, GCPRA rookie of the year, GCPRA champion barrel racer, NIRA regional reserve champion, multiple times NIRA tri-region qualifier, as well as setting multiple arena records. Most recently , she was 2010 SABRA 1-D Champion barrel racer and 2010 SABRA saddle series barrel racing champion. Jana has also started many young horses, that have gone on to have great successes, some of these accomplishments include: 2007 APHC Two-Year-Old Hunter Under Saddle, Reserve Champion, 2007 APHC Two-Year-Old Western Pleasure, Reserve Champion, Futurity Champion and two, 2008 two-year-old Hunter Under Saddle Top Ten finishers at the APHA World Championships. Jana accredits her success to having the opportunity to learn from great trainers. Jana has been fortunate to learn from great trainers such as Marlene Eddleman McRae, Ed Wright, Al Dunning, Manuela Profe, Sandy Finstead, Anita Mills and Laura Holbrooke. (Thanks so much!) Based at Tucson's River Valley Ranch, Jana uses her natural gifts, extensive training and experiences and her love for teaching to meet her clients’ needs – equine and human alike. It is because Jana has experience in a variety of horse events that she is able to draw from all these areas to create a great finished product in both horse and rider. So, if you want your horse started or trained the correct way, without holes, by a professional trainer with over ten years experience, for any event or pleasure riding, or you would like to learn the correct methods for yourself, you’ve come to the right place!
